Italian Mac and Cheese
Ingredients:
- 300g macaroni pasta
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup diced pancetta or bacon
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg optional
Instructions:
Warm the oven up to 175F 350C
Follow the directions on the box to cook macaroni until it is al dente
Remove the water and set it aside
Melt the butter over medium-low heat in a large saucepan
While cooking for about one minute, add the flour and whisk it in until its smooth
Slowly add the milk while whisking all the time until the mixture is smooth and thick
Add the grated Parmesan cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese and mix them in until they melt and are well mixed
Diced pancetta or bacon and cook it in a different pan until its crispy
Remove any extra fat and set it aside
To the cheese sauce, add cooked macaroni and bacon that is crispy
Mix everything together until its all covered
Add nutmeg, salt, and pepper, if you want
Put the mixture in a baking dish that has been greased and top it with chopped parsley
After the oven is hot, bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the top is bubbly and golden brown
Enjoy while hot
