Ingredients:

  • 150g almond flour
  • 150g powdered sugar
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 50g granulated sugar
  • Food coloring various colors
  • Edible markers various colors
  • Buttercream frosting optional
  • Sprinkles optional

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 300F 150C

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

In a food processor, combine almond flour and powdered sugar

Pulse until well combined

In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until frothy

Gradually add granulated sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form

Gently fold the almond flour mixture into the egg whites until you get a smooth and shiny batter

Be careful not to overmix

Divide the batter into separate bowls and add food coloring to create various emoji colors

Transfer each colored batter into a piping bag with a round tip

Pipe small emoji shapes onto the prepared baking sheet

Tap the baking sheet on the counter a few times to remove air bubbles

Let the macarons rest for about 20-30 minutes until a skin forms on the surface

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the macarons easily lift off the parchment paper

Remove from the oven and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack

Once cooled, use edible markers to draw emoji faces on the macarons

If desired, sandwich two macaron shells together with buttercream frosting and add sprinkles for extra flair

Serve and enjoy your DIY Emoji Macarons
